New Year New Relationship
The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to sit down and reflect on the relationship you want to attract in 2020. My friends and I are doing a vision board party to physically create the life we want to create. This can include your career, friendships, family, health and love. Actually seeing the life you could have on a poster board does something very powerful - it shows you that you can actually achieve it.
Also, write down specific qualities and characteristics that are important to you in a partner. Read your list… do you embody those qualities as well? Where could you improve yourself? If you’re looking for someone who drinks once a week or less, is that your lifestyle as well? Like attracts like so it’s important to be the person you would want to date in order for that person to be attracted to you.
A new year is also a good time to purge. Go through your clothes and get rid of anything that you haven’t worn in years. Make space for new things… and new people. Even take a look at your bedroom. Is there only one nightstand? You have to make room for someone in your life and that means physical room as well. Your space should look welcoming for a new relationship. How would you want a potential partner’s apartment to look? Curate your home exactly as you would like it to look when you would be sharing it with someone special. The importance of doing this is to ask the universe to bring you what you want. If you truly want a relationship, your life has to be conducive to letting that person enter. We often focus on the loss of something rather than the hope of finding it again. If you’re consistently thinking about how much you miss an ex, the energy you’re attracting is the loss of that person, rather than calling in someone new (and better!). It’s OK to mourn a relationship but when you’re ready for someone new in your life, you have to attract energy that will guide that person to you. An apartment that looks cozy for one but no one else will not attract that person. Maybe go and buy two cute matching champagne glasses that you’ll display in your home. That is asking the universe to bring someone into your life to share some fun times with. Go and get new sheets if your old ones remind you of your ex. Actually imagine your future partner sitting with you on the couch as you watch your favorite show. That’s how the universe will know you’re ready for a new relationship.
This is a practice that you’ll have to work on every day. Remind yourself that you are deserving of love and that the universe has not forgotten about you - you just weren’t ready yet. Build the life you have always wanted without waiting for someone else to come in and help. They will come once your life already feels full.
There truly is no better time to date then right now! Make your vision board, write out your list of qualities and create opportunities for yourself to meet QUALITY individuals that meet everything you are looking for.
On a personal note, I’ve never been busier with matchmaking clients so if you or someone you know is interested in being setup, have them contact me here: datingrehabnyc@gmail.com
