Happy Dog Principle
About this time last year, I decided to truly understand why certain women were proposed to and getting married while others, were not. I wanted to see if there was a common thread between these women. Basically, I wanted to know the secret sauce.
I went to wedding after wedding in 2017 and observed these women. By the fifth wedding, I figured it out. They were happy people. That's where the Happy Dog Principle comes in. When a happy dog walks into a room and starts wagging it's tail, panting and looking around excitedly, every person in the room gravitates towards the dog. The energy in the room is lifted and everyone feels relaxed and happy. That's exactly how these women were. They were internally happy people and that's why they attracted an amazing man into their lives who wanted to marry them.
I figured out the main ingredient for the secret sauce but then I needed to figure out how to make it. How does one become internally happy? Especially in a city like New York where it feels like the city wants to break us each and every day. I, myself, was going through a breakup early 2017 and was struggling to find my internal happiness. I wasn't sure if I was the best to answer this question but I knew I was the best to experiment and figure it out.
I decided to take the summer of 2017 off from dating and add in three activities into my life that I knew would make me happy. I was always complaining about my body back then and I knew if I started working out with a personal trainer, I would feel more confident. So that's exactly what I did. I've never felt more comfortable in my own skin. My path to happiness had started.
I also wanted to add in meditation to my life. I was always curious but I didn't make it a real part of my life. So, I joined an amazing meditation community that has brought so much joy into my life, not to mention some amazing friends. I've learned how to turn off that part of my brain that remembers every horrible thing I've ever experienced. I've never slept better. My internal happiness was growing...
Lastly, I knew I needed to change my career path. I was very unhappy in a job that ate away at me, day after day. I knew I wanted to help people but I wasn't sure how that would pay the bills. Through some coaching from an amazing friend, I decided to launch my very own dating coaching business. I knew I could help women find and sustain love in New York. I could help them feel less hopeless about dating and become less jaded. I found my calling and my internal happiness.
Try to be that happy dog every time you walk into a room. Reach out and let me know how it's changed your life.
